Chanu R. Dasari, M.D. has been in practice since 2011. He holds degrees in Psychology and Medicine from University of Missouri, and Nanotechnology from Oxford University, UK. Dasari has served in clinical and leadership roles at University of California Medical System, Vanderbilt University, several community non-profits, and government organizations. He moved to Southern Nevada in 2016 with the goal of introducing more modernized care to the Greater Las Vegas Valley, returning to a much needed focus on caring and compassion.

The idea to launch a website and create a network for people going through cancer was inspired by the oncology patients Dasari treats. He saw a need to connect patients with mentors who are “survivors” and can offer support and encouragement.

Beverly Bradley was the first member of our Silver Lining Vegas Team. She is our blog writer and a patient mentor. After Beverly retired from teaching, she was diagnosed in 2017 with stage 4, Triple Negative breast cancer. When she had her first clear scan a few months after surgery, she wanted to find ways to help others deal with the difficulties of cancer. Beverly became a mentor to cancer patients, both for the American Cancer Society and locally. Additionally, she serves as the admin for an online cancer support group. Beverly is active in her local church where she enjoys leading a woman’s Bible study. Her favorite pastime is playing with grandchildren. She and her husband, Frank, make their home in rural Nevada, 60 miles outside of Las Vegas.

Leslee Conenna  joins our team as both a facilitator of a new cancer support group and as a mentor. Leslee has experienced cancer in two roles. First, she was a caregiver for her husband, George, who is a survivor of bladder and kidney cancer. Then in a role-reversal in 2018, Leslee was diagnosed with esophageal cancer. After having two rounds of chemotherapy, followed by surgery and radiation, she is cancer free and looking forward to helping others.

Leslee accumulates frequent-flyer miles visiting grandchildren in two other states. Though when she’s home, she consistently trains at her gym. Leslee quips that she has no choice but to stay in shape since two of her children own gyms! Leslee actively volunteers in her community. Previously, she enjoyed working with a dog rescue organization. In partnership with local police, she would rescue and rehabilitate neglected dogs. Now Leslee is using her recent experiences with cancer to benefit those trying to find a silver lining in their cancer cloud.

Jeana.bio_3625.jpg

Jeana O’Laughlin grew up in the small town of Logandale, Nevada but has always had enormous dreams of making an impact in people's lives. She majored in Communications at Bethany University with the intent to publish a magazine showcasing beauty from within and helping young women see their true worth. Between working full time and raising her five children, the magazine has been put on the back burner. However, she has found other ways to impact women by becoming a makeup artist and teaching simple tips and tricks for self-care and makeup application. Jeana joined our team to help cancer patients with just that, with the knowledge that sometimes a little pick me up on the outside does wonders for how you feel on the inside. Jeana feels blessed to have found out about her Stage 1AC Cervical Cancer early on and have it eradicated with a radical hysterectomy. Since she is a cancer survivor, she also volunteers as a patient mentor.
